My favorite Thalassiosira - Thalassiosira bulbosa E.E.Syvertsen! It's supposed to be 2-16 um in diameter, but it knows better than we do. Vegetative cells are content to stay in these boundaries, but resting spores are not. In the Bering Sea they are 12-25 um in diameter.
