Synedropsis hyperborea (Grunow) Hasle, Medlin et Syvertsen
It is a sea ice species, but it's not very abundant in the Bering Sea, probalby because it likes to attach to Melosira arctica, and we don't have much of it either. It seems that those two species indicate multi-year ice.
The most useful paper: Hasle, G. R., L. K. Medlin, and E. E. Syvertsen (1994) Synedropsis gen. nov., a genus of araphid diatoms associated with sea ice. Phycologia, 33 (4): 248-270.
